NASCAR driver finally opens up on ‘Let’s go Brandon!’

The actual Brandon in the “Let’s go Brandon!” chant that went viral after a NASCAR race finally opened up about the chant in a Newsweek article.
A crowd chant which was incorrectly identified as “Let’s go Brandon!” after Brandon Brown earned his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series race victory in early October quickly went viral due to what was actually being said.
We all heard what was actually being said, a politically motivated chant that had been heard across the country at various sporting events, specifically at college football games, in the months leading up to this race.
And on that particular evening, “FJB” had spread to Talladega Superspeedway.
Because of the fact that the clear “FJB” chant was incorrectly described as “Let’s go Brandon!” to NBC viewers on that Saturday evening, “Let’s go Brandon!” has become a viral meme, and the chant itself has effectively become a viable replacement for the original political phrase.
Many people who aren’t even fans of NASCAR and don’t even know the name Brandon Brown know about “Let’s go Brandon!”, with some even putting the phrase on clothing and selling it.
Brown himself had stayed quiet about the chant for the most part, aside from commenting “Let’s go Brandon!” a few times on social media himself.
However, in a Newsweek article earlier this week, Brown opened up first the first time about the chant and his response to it.
It’s well worth a read.
Despite a clear intent to refrain from getting into politics — a challenging hurdle in this day and age — he made clear that he feels for the many millions in this country who are struggling right now, and he understands the frustration and anger of those reciting the chants, both “FJB” and “LGB”.
Like most Americans, he feels that politicians tend to be a source of the problems as opposed to the solutions, and he wants those fans to know that while Washington may not hear them, he certainly does.
His goal? To flip the entire narrative into “Let’s go America”. Hopefully we can all get on board with that.
