NASCAR: Clint Bowyer’s two-word response to Chiefs playoff collapse

NASCAR analyst and former Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer kept it real after watching his Kansas City Chiefs blow an 18-point lead and lose the AFC Championship Game.

Clint Bowyer was just like the rest of Chiefs Kingdom on Sunday afternoon when the two-time reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs opened up a 21-3 lead on the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.

When it looked as though Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were going to coast to a third straight Super Bowl appearance, the Stewart-Haas Racing NASCAR Cup Series driver-turned Fox Sports NASCAR analyst felt comfortable taking a playful shot at the Bengals’ famous “Who Dey?” chant.

Here’s what he had to say in response to a fan’s comment.

But Bowyer, an avid Chiefs fan who was in attendance when they won Super Bowl LIV over the San Francisco 49ers two years ago, was left disappointed.

For the second time in the month of January, the Chiefs blew a lead of at least 14 points en route to a 3-point loss to Joe Burrow and the Bengals. After losing 34-31 back on Sunday, January 2, they fell by a score of 27-24 in overtime.

But he was a good sport, again referencing the “Who Dey?” chant.

Here was Bowyer’s response to his team’s first pre-Super Bowl playoff loss since January 2019.

At least this time around, he didn’t get the chance to lose a Super Bowl bet.

Last year, the 42-year-old Emporia, Kansas native made a bet with former Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Aric Almirola, an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, and when the Buccaneers walloped the Chiefs by a score of 31-9 in Super Bowl LV, Bowyer couldn’t escape wearing a Tom Brady jersey.

Comedy ensued, of course, and Bowyer was a good sport about it.

Bowyer is set to be back in the Fox booth for a second Cup Series season this year.
