Formula 1 manufacturer rankings: No. 10 – Williams

Still recovering from the horrors of 2019, the Williams Formula 1 team have undergone a complete restructuring under the guise of American investment firm Dorilton Capital.

With team principal Jost Capito at the helm, whose most significant success has come in the World Rally Championship, Williams can hopefully enter a new era alongside the new technical regulations.

Williams were one the only manufacturer to not sport a mule car for postseason testing, meaning that they will be losing valuable time not only in developing their new machinery but also in learning about the new 18-inch tire compounds being provided by Pirelli for the 2022 season.

Reminiscent of missing the start of testing in Barcelona in 2019, Williams seemingly still need time to create a fluid organizational structure that can promote success.

Still customers to the best power unit manufacturer on the grid, Williams can hopefully recoup some lost pace with overall top speed like they did in 2021. But I still hold doubts as to whether they can complete the turnaround with such limited time since their sale in the summer of 2020.
