Following the Bluegreen Vacations Duels, the starting lineup for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 is set.

After Wednesday night’s single-car qualifying session for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500, the front row for the 64th running of the “Great American Race” was set.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson took the pole position for this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked Daytona International Speedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida behind the wheel of his #5 Chevrolet, and teammate Alex Bowman qualified alongside him on the front row in second place behind the wheel of his #48 Chevrolet.

Additionally, two drivers of non-chartered entries who were not guaranteed to compete in the 40-car race locked themselves in, leaving four others to battle for the final two spots. The two drivers who locked in were Beard Motorsports’ Noah Gragson and Team Hezeberg’s Jacques Villeneuve.

Thursday night’s Bluegreen Vacations Duels, two 60-lap races for which the starting lineups were set by Wednesday night’s single-car qualifying session, solidified the entire Daytona 500 lineup (behind the top two).

After Hendrick Motorsports swept the front row on Wednesday night, RFK Racing swept the Bluegreen Vacations Duels, with team co-owner Brad Keselowski winning the first one behind the wheel of his #6 Ford and teammate Chris Buescher winning the second behind the wheel of his #17 Ford.

So Keselowski is set to start the Daytona 500 in third place alongside Buescher in fourth.

Additionally, The Money Team Racing’s Kaz Grala pulled off a stellar comeback to race his way in, passing and eliminating MBM Motorsports’ J.J. Yeley on the final lap. NY Racing Team’s Greg Biffle also raced his way in, eliminating MBM Motorsports’ Timmy Hill.

With these two drivers racing their way in, this solidified Gragson’s starting position as 39th and Villeneuve’s as 40th (both on speed).

MBM Motorsports ended up being the only team left on the outside looking in, and they were left on the outside looking in with both of their drivers. This wasn’t completely unexpected after Yeley finished in 41st place on speed ahead of Hill in 42nd on Wednesday night. Both drivers finished well below 40th.

Next up, the main event.

The only car set to drop to the rear thus far is the #22 Team Penske Ford of Joey Logano after he wrecked from the lead on the final lap of the second Duel. His official starting position is 20th place after he ended up being scored in ninth, but the #22 team will be going to a backup car.
