NASCAR: 5 diecasts we need from this year’s Daytona 500
Must have diecasts from the Daytona 500: No. 4 – Bubba Wallace
McDonalds first joined NASCAR as a sponsor in the 1990s. They have been a common sponsor in the Cup Series since Bill Elliott drove the world-famous golden arches in the late 1990s. Since then, they have had an on and off relationship with NASCAR teams.
McDonalds rejoined NASCAR as a primary sponsor in 2021 when they formed a partnership with 23XI Racing. 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace took the McDonalds-sponsored #23 Toyota to victory lane for the first time since 1994 when he won at Talladega Superspeedway in October.
Wallace ran a McDonald’s paint scheme again in the Daytona 500, and this paint scheme is put together well. The golden arches on the hood are easily distinguishable from the rest of the field. On the side panels, there is a cartoon Big Mac and a cartoon picture of French fries.
This is a great use of the extra space that was created by moving the car numbers forward. During the race’s final stage, the #23 Toyota lost its right front fender. There were a lot of people rooting for Wallace to win solely to get a custom “Daytona 500 Winner” diecast that would also have the fender removed.
In the end, the cards did not fall in his favor, but this #23 McDonalds 23XI Racing Toyota Camry is still a great one for the collection.
