IndyCar: 2022 Iowa qualifying – Full starting lineups

Keep tabs on Saturday morning’s qualifying session for the two IndyCar races at Iowa Speedway later today and tomorrow afternoon.

For the first time since the Indy 500, IndyCar is set to race on an oval at Iowa Speedway this weekend, and the track is scheduled to host the 2022 season’s lone doubleheader, featuring the 17-race season’s 11th and 12th races.

The four-turn, 0.894-mile (1.439-kilometer) oval in Newton, Iowa also hosted a doubleheader in 2020, but that was due to the fact that so many other tracks lost their race dates due to COVID-19-related restrictions.

The track was left off the calendar in 2021 after hosting IndyCar every year from 2007 to 2020, but it has returned for 2022 in a big way, featuring both the 250-lap Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 this afternoon and the 300-lap Hy-Vee Salute to Farmers 300 tomorrow afternoon.

Qualifying for both races is set to take place this morning. This qualifying session is a typical IndyCar oval qualifying session, with the session being a single-car session and each driver making a two-lap qualifying run.

However, with the track hosting a doubleheader this weekend, it is not the average speed used to set the starting lineup. Instead, the speeds of each driver’s first lap determine the starting lineup for the first race, and the speeds of each driver’s second lap determine the starting lineup for the second race.
