Ryan Blaney isn’t the only active NASCAR Cup Series driver going from Pocono Raceway to compete in the SRX race at Sharon Speedway.

SRX is set to wrap up its second six-race season tonight at Sharon Speedway, a 0.375-mile (0.604-kilometer) dirt oval in Hartford Township, Ohio. The track, which is named for the nearby city of Sharon, Pennsylvania, is currently part-owned and operated by the Blaney family, including former NASCAR driver Dave Blaney.

Due to the Blaney family’s ties to the track, both past and present, Dave is set to compete in this evening’s race, and his son Ryan was invited to do so as well.

The Team Penske Cup Series driver admitted a couple months ago that competing against his dad was an opportunity he “couldn’t pass up”. He accepted that invitation without hesitation and has been looking forward to tonight’s race ever since.

With today’s Cup Series qualifying session at Pocono Raceway in the books for tomorrow afternoon’s race, Ryan is now set to fly to Sharon Speedway.

But Ryan Blaney isn’t the only active Cup Series driver set to compete in tonight’s SRX race.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott is also set to travel from Pocono Raceway to Sharon Speedway to do so. Elliott made his series debut in last year’s season finale at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, where he had the opportunity to compete against his own father Bill. Chase won the race, making him one for one entering this evening’s event.

Marco Andretti is the points leader heading into the season finale, having finished in second place in each of the last three races.

Other full-time drivers set to compete in this race include Bobby Labonte, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Paul Tracy, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Michael Waltrip. Part-time drivers Matt Kenseth and Tony Kanaan round out the 13-driver field.

Next. Chase Elliott's mark that can't be topped. dark
