Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton recently joined the Walton-Penner group as a minority owner of the NFL’s Denver Broncos.

Lewis Hamilton’s wide array of interests outside of Formula 1, where he is a seven-time world champion and holds a record 103 career race victories, continues to grow, as he recently joined the Walton-Penner group to become a minority owner of the NFL’s Denver Broncos.

On Tuesday, NFL owners unanimously voted in favor of the new Broncos ownership group, led by Rob Walton.

Walton agreed earlier this summer to pay $4.65 billion to the Bowlen family to purchase the AFC West organization.

Son-in-law Greg Penner and daughter Carrie Penner are also a part of the group, which has seen three additions as minority owners thus far.

In addition to Hamilton, set to join the team are Mellody Hobson and Condoleezza Rice, and there still may be more on the way, with Peyton Manning rumored as a possibility.

The Broncos are seen by many as a potential Super Bowl contender this year, following the addition of quarterback Russell Wilson via trade from the NFC West’s Seattle Seahawks.

The nine-time Pro Bowler, who made his NFL debut in 2012 after being drafted in the third round out of the University of Wisconsin, won the Super Bowl in his second season with Seattle, ironically against Denver.

WynnBET gives Wilson the seventh best odds (+1500), tied with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, to win the MVP Award, and it gives the Broncos the seventh best odds (+1500), tied with the NFC West’s San Francisco 49ers, to win Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Arizona this coming February.

The Broncos have not qualified for the playoffs since winning Super Bowl 50 in February 2016 with Manning under center for the final time. Their playoff drought is the second longest in the NFL, trailing only the New York Jets (January 2011).

The first game of the new era of Broncos ownership is scheduled to take place on Monday, September 12, and it is ironically set to feature the Seahawks. The two teams are set to conclude Week 1 of the new season at Seattle’s Lumen Field at 8:15 p.m. ET, with live coverage set to be provided by ESPN.
