Keep tabs on the qualifying session for the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Bristol Motor Speedway, the Bass Pro Shops Night Race.

The opening round, the round of 16, of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs is set to conclude this Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway with the Bass Pro Shops Night Race.

The Cup Series did run a race at the four-turn, 0.533-mile (0.858-kilomteer) high-banked oval in Bristol, Tennessee earlier this year, but for that race, the track was covered in dirt. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch took the checkered flag after the two drivers ahead of him collided on the final lap.

To set the starting lineup for this Saturday night’s 500-lap race, the regular single-car qualifying format (full details here) is set to be used, with each driver set to make a two-lap attempt. The qualifying order for each group was determined by the formula (explained here).
