Drivers who could join Joe Gibbs Racing: No. 2 – Corey Heim

Corey Heim already has a full-time ride lined up for the 2023 NASCAR season, as he is set to drive the No. 11 Toyota for TRICON Garage in the Truck Series, but that doesn’t mean he can’t add a few races here and there in other series.

Heim competed part-time for Kyle Busch Motorsports during the 2022 Truck Series season and was considered an ideal candidate for a full-time ride in 2023 after winning two races and securing four additional top five finishes.

However, he ended up landing elsewhere, just as many expected once it was revealed that Kyle Busch Motorsports would officially be switching from Toyota to Chevrolet amid Kyle Busch’s move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing.

Heim remained with Toyota for 2023, with the team formerly known as David Gilliland Racing switching from Ford to Toyota amid their rebranding as TRICON Garage.

Could Heim’s continued relationship with the manufacturer allow him to make his Xfinity Series debut and potentially compete in a number of races for Joe Gibbs Racing next season?

Interestingly, in his most recent full season in any series, Heim finished in second place in the championship standings. That happened during the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season, and he finished just behind the now Cup Series-bound Ty Gibbs. Would he too experience instant Xfinity Series success if given the chance at Joe Gibbs Racing?
