The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season is scheduled to get underway this Sunday afternoon with the 65th annual Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.

After an offseason of nearly three and a half months, the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled to get underway this Sunday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway with the 65th annual Daytona 500.

The stars of the Cup Series were back in action two Sundays ago at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the Busch Light Clash, but that was an exhibition race. The real 36-race season doesn’t officially start until the Great American Race.

The single-car qualifying session, which set the front row for the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked Daytona Beach, Florida oval, took place on Wednesday evening, and it was Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman who took the pole position. Teammate Kyle Larson is set to start alongside him in second place.

The entire 40-car starting lineup was solidified on Thursday night with the two Bluegreen Vacations Duels, which also eliminated two of the six non-chartered entries from competing in the main event.
