NASCAR: Who is joining Fox for the Phoenix race?

Danica Patrick is set to join Mike Joy and Clint Bowyer in the Fox broadcast booth for Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway.

Phoenix Raceway is set to host the third and final race of the annual NASCAR Cup Series west coast swing on Sunday afternoon. This race, the United Rentals Work United 500, is the fourth of 36 races on the 2023 schedule.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe is set to enter this 312-lap race around the four-turn, 1.058-mile (1.703-kilometer) Avondale, Arizona oval as the reigning winner, having earned his first career Cup Series victory last year.

Team Penske’s Joey Logano is the most recent winner at the track, winning in November to clinch his second championship.

This race is the fifth NASCAR Cup Series race of Fox’s portion of this year’s broadcast schedule.

In addition to the season’s first three points races, they also covered the Busch Light Clash preseason exhibition race at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Full-time announcers Mike Joy (lead announcer) and Clint Bowyer (analyst) were joined by Tony Stewart for that race, plus the season’s first two points races at Daytona International (Daytona 500) and Auto Club Speedway.

Like last year, Fox is bringing in different individuals, primarily former drivers, from race to race to join Joy and Bowyer. Kevin Harvick is set to join the duo full-time next year after retiring from Cup Series competition, but until then, the third spot is effectively free.

Danica Patrick replaced Stewart last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and she is set to return to the booth again at Phoenix Raceway. She was also in the booth for the races at these two tracks last March.

Stewart is set to return for the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 19. Nobody has been confirmed beyond that.

The following race is scheduled to take place at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday, March 26, and it is a race during which Stewart was in the booth last year.
