As Aston Martin continue to make massive strides, what are the heights of their potential success during the 2023 Formula 1 season?

Aston Martin are well ahead of schedule on their path to success. All eyes are on them as fans look forward to seeing the height of their achievements during the 2023 Formula 1 season.

The pace of Aston Martin’s car is near the top in comparison to other teams on the grid. Not only have they improved their car from last year, but they have taken it to the front of the pack.

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have done very well in bringing the best out of the car in the season’s first two races.

Despite having an impressively fast car, the team know where they stand and who their competition is. They know that Red Bull are currently a level beyond them and will not waste any time this season trying to fight the defending champions.

But Aston Martin are fully ready for a season-long battle between themselves, Mercedes, and Ferrari for second place in the constructor standings.

So what is the ceiling for Aston Martin during the 2023 Formula 1 season?

The team currently sit in a second place tie in the standings with Mercedes, with Ferrari 12 points behind. Alonso sits third in the driver standings with Lance Stroll in seventh.

The pace of the car is visible, and the team have utilized strategies that have proven successful in the last two races. The Spaniard is the team’s number one driver, so expect him to continue to do better with the AMR23 than his Canadian teammate.

As we saw in qualifying this past weekend in Jeddah, Alonso was in the running for the pole position until the end of Q3. Stroll started fifth on the grid, meaning that Aston Martin were the only team to have both drivers begin within the first three rows of the grid.

The outlook for Aston Martin is relatively high, given how good they have been so far. The thought of pole positions and even a race win is not out of the question. If anything, it would likely be Alonso who achieves those feats. As for Stroll, the team will view his points as very valuable and will look for him to finish as high as possible in each race.

What Aston Martin achieve in a best-case scenario

  • At least one pole position
  • Potentially a race win
  • As many podiums as possible for Alonso
  • P2 for the team in the constructor championship
  • P3 for Alonso and ideally P6 for Stroll in the driver championship
