With many rumors surrounding the future of AlphaTauri, the likelihood of Nyck de Vries having a short-lived Formula 1 career continues to rise.

There are quite a few possibilities as to who could be the one to replace Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri, should he continue to struggle to start his Formula 1 career.

From what recent rumors have suggested, the three individuals who have genuine chances to replace the 28-year-old Dutchman all have links to Red Bull. That is not so unexpected, given that AlphaTauri is the sister team of Red Bull.

Here are three possibilities.

Possible Nyck de Vries replacements: No. 1 – Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo recently did a seat fitting with AlphaTauri, which began to fuel the rumors of a potential Nyck de Vries exit from the team. As someone who is looking to get back into Formula 1 in 2024, this could mean the Australian has a chance to end up in a full-time role for Red Bull’s sister team after opening the season as Red Bull’s third driver.

This is naturally not a great sign for de Vries amid his poor start to the season. Red Bull have high hopes for AlphaTauri and these consistently poor performances are not acceptable.

Despite Helmut Marko seemingly ruling out Ricciardo moving to AlphaTauri, the chances of it happening are still quite genuine. The 33-year-old is looking for an immediate return to competing on Sundays, and given which teams will likely have open positions for next season, AlphaTauri seems like a good option for him to rejuvenate his career early.

While some may have initially believed that a move to Red Bull’s sister team would be a step down for Ricciardo, it could be exactly what he needs. Just look at how well Nico Hulkenberg has performed with Haas this season.
