NASCAR makes more Charlotte schedule changes due to weather
By Asher Fair
NASCAR has changed the start times for both the Xfinity Series race and the Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway due to rain.
There will not be any NASCAR Cup Series action on Sunday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as NASCAR has officially postponed the Coca-Cola 600. The race was originally scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m. ET, but it has been postponed until Monday afternoon.
The race, which is still set to be broadcast live on Fox, is scheduled to take place at 3:00 p.m. ET. There is still a 50% chance of rain showers on Memorial Day, according to The Weather Channel, so this schedule change may not be the last.
Cup Series practice and qualifying were both canceled due to rain on Saturday night, so the starting lineup for the longest race of the season was set via the metric.
A full Coca-Cola 600 starting lineup can be found here.
NASCAR also made an additional change to the start time of the Alsco Uniforms 300.
This Xfinity Series race was initially scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon. It was postponed due to rain as well. The race was initially moved to Monday at 12:00 p.m. ET, with live coverage still set to be provided by Fox Sports 1.
But because of the addition of the Cup Series race to Monday’s schedule, the Xfinity Series race has been moved up by an hour to 11:00 a.m. ET. Fox Sports 1 is still set to provide live coverage.
Unlike for the Cup Series race, however, qualifying did take place for the Xfinity Series event on Friday, with JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier taking the pole position.
Don’t miss the Alsco Uniforms 300 on Monday at 11:00 a.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, and don’t miss the Coca-Cola 600 later in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. ET. However, do be alert that these start times are still subject to change, depending on the weather conditions. Begin a free trial of FuboTV now and don’t miss any of the action!
