Formula 1 expansion drivers: No. 2 – Jak Crawford

Jak Crawford is an 18-year-old from North Carolina who is currently a part of Hitech Grand Prix’s Formula 2 team. Crawford has four podium finishes and one race win so far in his first season in Formula 2 following two full seasons in Formula 3 which saw him win a race and secure five additional podium finishes.

After a rough start to his Formula 2 career this season, he has turned things around. All four of his podium finishes, including his victory in the sprint race at the Red Bull Ring, and all eight of his points finishes have come in the 16 most recent races.

Crawford has been racing in Europe since 2018 and has had success at every level. His current tie to Hitech can help him eventually make it all the way to Formula 1.

Upon being approved by the FIA, the team will likely be looking to pair a young driver who is comfortable with the team with a driver who has Formula 1 experience to bring to the table.

When the 2026 season begins, Crawford is still set to be quite young at 20 years old, so he will be aiming to take advantage of the next few years to prepare.
