Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway is set to mark the fifth straight race on USA Network as opposed to NBC.

NBC hasn’t broadcast a NASCAR Cup Series race since early July, when the inaugural race at the new Chicago Street Course race took place.

That is set to remain the case for another week.

This coming Sunday afternoon’s race at Michigan International Speedway is also set to be shown live on USA Network.

This race is the fifth straight NASCAR Cup Series race set to air on USA Network as opposed to NBC.

USA Network finds itself on the schedule as the alternative broadcast network during NBC’s portion of the broadcast calendar, which began after Fox’s portion ended back in late June, for the second straight season.

NBC Sports Network had held that role until it shut down after 2021. The current 10-year, $8.2 billion that NASCAR has with Fox and NBC expires in 2024.

Following this weekend’s 200-lap FireKeepers Casino around the four-turn, 2.0-mile (3.219-kilometer) oval in Brooklyn, Michigan, two of the final three regular season races are set to air on NBC.

The two NBC races are scheduled to take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course on Sunday, August 13 and at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, August 26, while the one USA Network race is scheduled to take place at Watkins Glen International on Sunday, August 20.

The 10-race playoff schedule consists of four races on USA Network on six on NBC. Keeping things simple, the first four races are the USA Network races, and the final six races are the NBC races.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick is the reigning winner at Michigan International Speedway, having won the race last August to end an almost two-year win drought.

FanDuel Sportsbook, which is now offering fans an instant $100 just for betting $5, lists Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson as the +600 favorite to win Sunday’s race.
