Amid all of the questions and speculation about the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, Joe Gibbs Racing had some fun with the fans.
As the puzzle pieces are slowly put into place, it is only a matter of time before the full 36-race 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule is confirmed.
The inaugural Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway, which is replacing the event at Auto Club Speedway, is one of the key changes, and this visit was formally confirmed on Tuesday.
Amid questions and speculation about what the rest of the schedule will look like, specifically regarding race dates since Iowa is rumored to be the only new addition to the calendar, one team had a little bit of fun with the fans.
Joe Gibbs Racing posted a totally legit 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule.
The Toyota powerhouse posted a picture of a Google Sheet spreadsheet titled “2024 NASCAR schedule”, listing each race weekend for next season and noting that “it’s coming out soon anyway”.
Through the first few race weekends, the schedule looks legit. But after that, it quickly becomes satire.
We can probably safety assume that visits to Rainbow Road, North Wilkesboro Speedway for a dirt race, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for a Formula 1 doubleheader, and Figure-8 Circuit are not in the Cup Series’ future for the 2024 regular season — and neither are visits to Bowman Gray Stadium Radiator Springs Circuit during the playoffs.
North Wilkesboro is still set to host the All-Star Race for a second consecutive season, but it will not be on dirt. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve had been rumored as a potential international venue, and the track is indeed set to host Formula 1’s Canadian Grand Prix that weekend, but it will likely not be on the calendar in 2024. Bowman Gray Stadium is also out of the question.
As for the other tracks, well — maybe if they existed outside of Mario Kart and Cars, they’d be considered. You never know; stranger things have happened.
The (legitimate) 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule is expected to be released later this week.
