One year after a dominant NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship-winning season, Corey Heim has spent time winning races in both the Truck Series and the Cup Series.
He continues to compete in the former for the Tricon Garage team with which he won the championship, and he continues to compete in the latter for 23XI Racing, for which he has been a development driver since 2025.
Heim was confirmed early on in the 2026 season as the team's eventual replacement for Riley Herbst behind the wheel of the No. 35 23XI Racing Toyota next year, and that announcement preceded two Cup Series victories in three races, making him the first driver since A.J. Foyt in 1965 to earn two wins in his first 15 career starts.
Heim ran this past weekend's Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway and finished 10th, and he is scheduled to run both the Truck Series and the Cup Series races at Homestead-Miami Speedway to wrap up the 2026 season next weekend as well.
Corey Heim replacement confirmed for Martinsville NASCAR Truck race
So in addition to this weekend's race at Martinsville Speedway being his final scheduled off weekend for the foreseeable future as far as the Cup Series is concerned, it's also the final time he's set to be replaced for a Truck Series event this year.
Heim's start at Talladega, which was his eighth of the Truck Series season, was his fifth in the No. 1 Toyota. This weekend, it's Gavan Boschele who is set to make his third.
The 18-year-old native of Mooresville, North Carolina made his Truck Series debut at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in July and finished eighth. His August start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway ended with a late wreck, and he was scored 33rd.
Boschele has also run part-time in the ARCA Menards Series this season, racking up eight top five finishes in 12 starts with Nitro Motorsports, and it would not be surprising to see him run additional Truck Series races with Tricon Garage next year.
As for Heim, he could very well run select Truck Series races as well. Even though he controversially won't be classified as a rookie, he won't be limited by NASCAR's restrictions on full-time Cup drivers with at least three years of Cup experience.
Friday's Black's Tire 200 is set to be shown live on Fox Sports 1 from Martinsville Speedway starting at 6:30 p.m. ET. Begin a free trial of FuboTV now and don't miss any of the action from the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season's penultimate race!
