Doriane Pin driver has been pushing hard to advance her racing career over the past three or so seasons. Joining the Formula 1 Academy was a massive boost to her development, as she showed her talent right from the beginning.
Entering the series in 2024, the French driver was a serious championship contender, ultimately finishing in second place behind Abbi Pulling. In 2025, the 22-year-old bounced back strongly and won the title.
As one of the most talented female racing drivers in the world, Pin has dreams of making it to Formula 1 one day. Recently, she publicly stated that a five-year window is her ideal timeline for getting a full-time seat.
Her F1 dream is more realistic than you think
Despite success in F1 Academy, more work must be done for genuine consideration to be given to Pin by any F1 team in the future. At the moment, she serves as a developmental driver for Mercedes, plus other teams in WEC (Peugeot) and Formula E (Citroen).
Pin got a massive boost this past April when Toto Wolff handed her the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car. In a test at Silverstone, she was able to drive the W12 for 76 laps.
Her path to the top still requires lots more success in single-seater racing over the next few seasons. She should follow the steps of Pulling and find success in GB3 with the hopes of breaking into FIA’s Formula 3 after that.
However, funding will also be a massive challenge when it comes to moving up. In recent seasons, quite a few drivers have dropped out of Formula 2 and Formula 3 primarily due to a lack of funding. But Pin finds herself in a much better position than most, as Mercedes and Wolff have been extremely supportive of her career up to this point.
