In addition to running his second full season with Joe Gibbs Racing behind the wheel of the No. 18 Toyota in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, William Sawalich has spent a nice chunk of time competing in the Craftsman Truck Series in three different trucks across two different teams.

His ninth place finish at Martinsville Speedway this past weekend marked his eighth start of the 2026 season, seventh with Tricon Garage, and sixth in the team's No. 5 Toyota. He also ran one race in the team's No. 1 Toyota, in addition to one race for Halmar Friesen Racing in the No. 62 Toyota.

Sawalich racked up five top 10 finishes in those eight starts, including a sixth place finish at Phoenix Raceway which matched the career-high result he set back in 2023, his first season in the series, at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. He also finished seventh at Bristol Motor Speedway, which was his best finish since that P6 effort at IRP at the time.

No more NASCAR Truck races for William Sawalich in 2026

But this weekend, Sawalich is set to focus strictly on the O'Reilly Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which he's set to enter with a chance to pass teammate Brent Crews in the championship standings to end the season as the top non-playoff driver. He trails the driver of the No. 19 Toyota by 24 points for that spot.

Behind the wheel of the No. 5 Toyota for Friday night's Truck Series race is instead set to be Spencer Davis, who has made just one start for the team this year.

Davis competed for Tricon Garage at Michigan International Speedway back in June and finished in 24th place in what was his first series start since the 2023 season finale at Phoenix. In three previous appearances at Homestead-Miami, he recorded a DNQ, a 13th place finish, and a DNF.

His career-high Truck Series finish came in his series debut with Kyle Busch Motorsports at Daytona International Speedway back in 2018, when he placed seventh. He added a ninth place finish at Texas Motor Speedway later that year and an eighth place finish at Kentucky Speedway for Rette Jones Racing in 2019.

Davis spent time earlier this season competing in the ASA STARS National Tour, recording three top 10 finishes, including a top finish of fourth, in his three starts.
