There is no No. 42 Legacy Motor Club Toyota on the entry list for Sunday afternoon's Dollar Tree 301 NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but the team still plan to run their usual two chartered cars.
Instead of No. 42, the No. 40 is set to be used for John Hunter Nemechek's entry, although there will be no change as far as the owner point standings are concerned.
Nemechek's points from this weekend's 301-lap race around the four-turn, 1.058-mile (1.703-kilometer) Loudon, New Hampshire oval will still count toward the No. 42 team's tally for the year. The team currently sits 28th.

The number change was made as a nod to Legacy Motor Club primary sponsor Dollar Tree, which is also set to serve as the title sponsor for this weekend's race. The No. 40 is a reference to the company's 40-year anniversary as a retailer.

Erik Jones is still set to be behind the wheel of the No. 43 Toyota, even though he too is set to be sponsored by Dollar Tree in Sunday's race.
Dollar Tree has been a Legacy Motor Club partner since January 2024 and signed a multi-year agreement to expand the relationship back in April.
The No. 40 hasn't been used in a Cup Series race since the Daytona 500, when Justin Allgaier drove the No. 40 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. He also drove that car in the 2025 running of the "Great American Race", and Jamie McMurray used it in the 2019 Daytona 500 for Spire Motorsports.
It hasn't been used for a Cup race other than the Daytona 500 since Landon Cassill ran full-time for Hillman Smith Motorsports in 2015.
Live coverage of the Dollar Tree 301 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway is set to be provided by USA Network beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, August 23.
