Due to the threat of rain from Isaias throughout the weekend, NASCAR made the decision Friday to adjust the schedule on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway to give both the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Cup Series the best possible chance to fit in all of their scheduled action.
O'Reilly Series practice had been scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by qualifying at 11:35 a.m. ET, and Cup Series practice had been scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. ET, followed by qualifying at 2:05 p.m. ET.
All four of those sessions have been moved up by two hours, with O'Reilly Series practice and qualifying now scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET and 9:35 a.m. ET, and Cup Series practice and qualifying now scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET and 12:05 p.m. ET.
NASCAR takes proactive measures as rain forecast for Charlotte
The Cup Series is looking to avoid its fourth canceled qualifying session in six weeks to begin the postseason, which would match the cancelation total from the entire 2024 and 2025 seasons combined.
Saturday's 200-lap O'Reilly Series race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Concord, North Carolina oval is still scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m. ET, and Sunday's 267-lap Cup Series race is still scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m. ET.
The CW Network is set to air the Blue Cross NC 300 O'Reilly Series race, while USA Network is set to air the Bank of America 400 Cup Series race.
According to AccuWeather, there is a 55% chance of rain on Saturday, although that jumps to a 99% chance on Sunday, with an added risk of thunderstorms and tornadoes. Despite all of the qualifying rainouts this year, NASCAR has not yet had to postpone a Cup Series race, although three of them were moved up to avoid the threat of bad weather later on race day.
