There are four non-chartered (open) cars on the entry list for Sunday afternoon's Straight Talk Wireless 400 NASCAR Cup Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, making it the first non-superspeedway race since the July 2025 street race in Chicago to feature a full 40-car field.
All four of those cars are guaranteed to qualify for this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Homestead, Florida.
They include NY Racing Team's No. 44 Chevrolet, Beard Motorsports' No. 62 Chevrolet, Garage 66's No. 66 Ford, and 23XI Racing's No. 67 Toyota.
J.J. Yeley ends longest stretch without a NASCAR Cup start since 2017-18
NY Racing Team most recently competed at Talladega Superspeedway two weekends ago, and it was Joey Gase behind the wheel of the No. 44 car for the third time this year. His 21st place finish matched the team's best of the year, initially set by J.J. Yeley at Michigan International Speedway in June, and was just one shy of the team's all-best finishes of 20th.
Gase finished 20th at Daytona International Speedway in 2024, and the late Greg Biffle finished 20th at EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta Motor Speedway) in 2022.
This weekend, it's set to be Yeley making his fifth appearance and fourth start of the season behind the wheel of the No. 44 Chevrolet. After failing to qualify for the Daytona 500 for the third year in a row, he competed at Atlanta, Michigan, and Chicagoland Speedway.
With the Chicagoland race having been contested more than four months ago now, this weekend is set to end Yeley's 16-race streak without a start, his longest at the Cup level since he missed 18 in a row, including 13 in a row to end the 2017 season and then the first five of the 2018 season. He hasn't missed more than 16 in a row in a single season since he didn't compete at all in 2016, his lone season without an appearance since his career began in 2004.
Casey Mears is set to drive the No. 62 car, Chad Finchum is set to drive the No. 66 car, and Corey Heim is set to drive the No. 67 car.
NBC's live coverage of Sunday afternoon's Straight Talk Wireless 400 is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. ET from Homestead-Miami Speedway. Start a free trial of FuboTV today and don't miss the last race on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule until February 2027!
