What was once considered NBC Sports' portion of the NASCAR Cup Series broadcast schedule is now officially classified as USA Sports' portion, although the channels remain the same, with the races split between NBC and USA Network.
But when NASCAR's new seven-year, $7.7 billion media rights deal went into effect ahead of the 2025 season, the season-ending portion of the calendar dropped from 20 races to 14. While USA Network retained 10 races, NBC dropped from 10 to just four.
USA Sports' part of the 2026 schedule began in early August at Iowa Speedway, and thus far, just one of the seven races contested has been shown live on NBC, that being the regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway.
Kansas NASCAR Cup Series playoff race not on NBC
The first three races of the 10-race "Chase" postseason were all shown live on USA Network, and that trend is set to continue this weekend at Kansas Speedway.
And Sunday's 267-lap Hollywood Casino 400 at the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Kansas City, Kansas oval isn't the final race of this stretch set to be shown live on USA Network, rather than NBC.
The next three races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway are all set to be shown live on USA Network as well. But the final three races of the season at Talladega Superspeedway, Martinsville Speedway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway are all lined up to be broadcast live on NBC.
Regardless, the USA/NBC broadcast booth is set to consist of Leigh Diffey as the lead announcer for the third year in a row, alongside analysts Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton, who joined the booth in 2015.
