After the final two off weekends of the 2026 season, the NTT IndyCar Series is set to return to action this Sunday afternoon with the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland at Portland International Raceway.
This 110-lap race around the 12-turn, 1.967-mile (3.166-kilometer) natural terrain road course in Portland, Oregon is race number 13 of 18 on the calendar, and it is set to kick off a stretch of six races in 29 days to conclude the season. IndyCar hasn't run an 18-race season since 2014.
Since Portland returned to the schedule in 2018, just two of its seven races have been won from pole position (2021 and 2022), with two others won from the front row (2019 and 2024). Just two of the first 12 races of the 2026 season were won from pole, with only two others won from the front row.
Of the four road course races contested so far this year, only the race at Barber Motorsports Park was won from pole by Chip Ganassi Racing's Alex Palou. Arrow McLaren's Pato O'Ward won from the front row at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, while teammate Christian Lundgaard won from fourth and 12th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and Road America, respectively.
Will Power earned his final win with Team Penske at Portland in the 2025 race, and he did so from third on the grid. How crucial will qualifying be this weekend? Follow along with our live qualifying updates from Portland International Raceway.
