One year removed from his rookie Formula 1 season, Isack Hadjar was promoted to Red Bull from Racing Bulls and has been easily the highest performing teammate of four-time world champion Max Verstappen in quite some time.
He scored 71 points over the first 11 rounds of the 2026 season, and he entered the summer break on an incredible seven-race streak of top six finishes, highlighted by his second career podium finish in the Monaco Grand Prix crown jewel.
Unfortunately, a wrist injury he sustained late in Formula 1's recent four-week summer break sidelined him for both the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort and the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Now he has been ruled out for a third consecutive race.
Isack Hadjar out for Spanish Grand Prix
While Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosted a race in June, this year's official Spanish Grand Prix is set to take place at the new Madring in Madrid, Spain this Sunday, September 13, and Hadjar will not compete.
Liam Lawson, who filled in for him alongside Verstappen at both Zandvoort and Monza, is set to do so again. After an impressive start to the season with Racing Bulls himself, he placed seventh in the Dutch Grand Prix before settling for 14th in the Italian Grand Prix. He finds himself ninth in the world championship standings, still behind Hadjar in eighth.
Red Bull reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda replaced Lawson at Racing Bulls alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad at Zandvoort and Monza and is set to do so in Madrid as well. After an 11th place finish in Zandvoort, he scored a point with a 10th place effort in Monza, elevating him above three full-time drivers in the standings.
