Shane van Gisbergen won't compete this weekend after running what was supposed to be Kyle Busch's last race of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

The late Kyle Busch was supposed to run the eighth and final race on his initial 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule for Spire Motorsports this past weekend at Richmond Raceway.

After Busch's tragic passing in May, Spire Motorsports turned to Corey Day to fill in behind the wheel of the No. 7 Chevrolet at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Rajah Caruth to do so at Nashville Superspeedway, and Chase Elliott to do so at North Wilkesboro Speedway, all tracks where Busch had been scheduled to run this year after NASCAR relaxed its restrictions on full-time Cup drivers in lower series races.

Busch won two of his four races at EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta Motor Speedway) and Dover Motor Speedway, with the Dover win coming less than a week before his death.

At Richmond, it was Shane van Gisbergen, another full-time Cup driver, who was given the honor of driving Busch's truck, and he scored a surprise pole position before going on to finish fourth, giving him back-to-back top four oval finishes at the Truck level; he finished third at North Wilkesboro in the team's part-time No. 71 Chevrolet back in July.

SVG replacement confirmed at New Hampshire

But this weekend, SVG is set to focus squarely on the Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as he aims to clinch a playoff spot. He is currently 50 points above the playoff cut line, sitting in the 16th and final provisional postseason position.

Connor Mosack is set to be back behind the wheel of the No. 7 Chevrolet for the eighth time this year in Saturday's Truck Series regular season finale in Loudon. He made his most recent appearance at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in July and finished in a career-high second.

Mosack is set to run four of the seven races on the upcoming playoff schedule at Brsitol, Charlotte, Phoenix Raceway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway, while the team have yet to confirm drivers for the other three at Kansas Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, and Martinsville Speedway.

The Team EJP 175 is set to be shown live on Fox Sports 1 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway starting at 1:30 p.m. ET this Saturday, August 22. Take advantage of FuboTV's free trial offer now and don't miss any of the action!
