Two full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers will not compete in this Saturday's postseason race at Kansas Speedway, the RaceToStopSuicide.com 200.
Dawson Sutton, the full-time driver of the No. 26 Rackley WAR Chevrolet, is set to miss this 134-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Kansas City, Kansas, as he is instead set to compete for Rackley WAR in their Super Late Model entry at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
Frankie Muniz, the full-time driver of the No. 33 Team Reaume Ford, is set to miss the race as well, marking his third missed start of the year. He is instead set to focus on the Pirelli GT4 America Series race at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Driving full-time for TechSport Racing, he is second in the Am Class championship standings, along with teammate Tyler Stone.
Who is replacing these two drivers at Kansas?
Sutton is set to return for the Truck Series' next race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, two weekends after the Kansas race. This weekend, it's Toni Breidinger who is set to fill in for him behind the wheel of the No. 26 truck.
Breidinger qualified the No. 26 truck at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in August but was replaced by Sutton after Sutton was unable to run a qualifying lap in the No. 27 entry.
The team had initially put Breidinger in Sutton's usual No. 26 truck because they felt it gave them a better chance of both trucks qualifying, since the No. 26 team could fall back on owner points. Aside from that, she has made three starts this year, with a top finish of 18th place at Texas Motor Speedway. She also has three DNQs.
As for Muniz, another GT4 America Series is scheduled to take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course the same weekend as the Truck Series race at Charlotte, although Team Reaume's plans for the Chevrolet race have not been announced. But this week, it's team owner Josh Reaume who is set to pilot the No. 33 Ford.
Reaume has made six starts this year, all in the team's No. 22 Ford, and has finished as high as 20th place at Daytona International Speedway.
Sutton is 18th in the point standings, while Muniz is 25th, lowest among full-time drivers. Muniz also missed the race at Watkins Glen International due to a GT4 America Series commitment back in May, and he missed the race at New Hampshire after opting to step aside for Luke Baldwin, who initially failed to qualify despite posting a fastest qualifying speed than Muniz.
