In a NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan that featured an action-packed finish, Kyle Larson stole the victory from three hungry Toyota drivers.

In the 23rd NASCAR Cup Series race of the season, the drivers took to the 2.0-mile Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Coming into the race, Kyle Larson, the driver of the #42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, had won the last two Michigan races and last three races on 2.0-mile ovals.

The Pure Michigan 400 was scheduled for 200 laps, and Larson did not lead any of those 200 laps. However, thanks to a late wreck involving Paul Menard and Michael McDowell, a caution flag came out to send the race into overtime.

Starting in 4th place in overtime behind Martin Truex Jr., Erik Jones and Matt Kenseth, Larson made a couple of bold moves and ended up passing Truex Jr., who had dominated the late stages of the race, for the lead with two laps to go. Larson never looked back and won the race despite leading just two of 202 laps.

The win gave Larson his third consecutive victory at Michigan and fourth consecutive victory on 2.0-mile ovals, with that other win coming earlier this season at Fontana.
