Following Danica Patrick’s announcement that she will be leaving Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season, Kevin Harvick spoke out about his teammate.

Following Danica Patrick’s announcement that she will be departing Stewart-Haas Racing following the conclusion of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season, 2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick spoke out about his teammate leaving.

Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Tony Stewart also spoke out about Patrick before Harvick did. He pretty much praised her and wished her well in her future, whether she continues to race in NASCAR, race at all or retires. Harvick’s message about Patrick was pretty similar to Stewart’s.

Here is what Harvick had to say about Patrick.

"“On the other side of that you have the performance side of things that at some point measures into everybody’s sponsorship. I hope that Danica gets a sponsor because she’s an important part of our sport…She’s had a lot of very good moments; look at Joey Logano, he went from Joe Gibbs Racing to (Team) Penske and became an immediate championship contender just by getting in a different situation.”“That’s what you hope for in this situation, that Danica can find a team and a sponsor that fits her situation better than the situation that has been in the past.”"

As you can see, Harvick is generally supportive of her and wants her to continue driving full-time in the Cup Series. He feels that if she gets another chance, her career could turn around for the better, which it is going to have to do if she expects to be anywhere long-term.

More from Danica Patrick

In 180 career Cup Series races, 170 of which driving for the top-tier Stewart-Haas Racing organization and 134 of which as Harvick’s teammate at Stewart-Haas Racing, Patrick has never been able to win a race. In fact, she has never even been able to finish in the top 5.

In her entire career, she has only finished in the top 10 seven times, and only one of those seven top 10 finishes has come in the last 90 races. That top 10 finish was only a 10th place finish earlier this season at Dover. With all of that in mind, it’s great to see Harvick supporting Patrick as his teammate even though her statistics have not been great by any measure whatsoever.
