Upsets aren’t only for college football this weekend. Parker Kligerman scored a surprising victory in the NASCAR Truck Series on Saturday at Talladega.

Upsets, surprises, and unexpected victories – they happen all over sports. But rarely in sports is there a singular location that it happens the most. NASCAR bucks that trend, with superspeedway racing at Talladega Superspeedway serving as the ultimate wild card for competitors. In Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series race, one of those upsets came to fruition, with Parker Kligerman ending the day in Victory Lane.

Kligerman, driving for the part-time Henderson Motorsports squad, earned his second career Truck Series win at Talladega in the #75 Toyota. Driving hard throughout the race, Kligerman bumped his way to the front of the field in the closing laps, and capitalized in overtime. He was in front of the pack as the white flag waved and the field crashed behind him, sealing the win in the Fred’s 250.

Following Kligerman across the line was Christopher Bell in 2nd and Myatt Snider in 3rd for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Grant Enfinger for ThorSport Racing and Austin Cindric for Brad Keselowski Racing rounded out the top 5. Fifteen trucks would be scored as finishing on the lead lap.

More from Camping World Truck Series

The race at Talladega also served as the first elimination race of the Camping World Truck Series playoffs. Eight drivers entered the race with a chance to claim the title, but only six remain after. At the end of the day, Kaz Grala was the first eliminated from contention by crashing out in the first stage of the race. That left the final spot to be battled between John Hunter Nemechek and Chase Briscoe. Both experienced major issues in the race, but Nemechek was able to minimize the damage and advance by eight points.
