Dale Earnhardt Jr. is set to return to NASCAR racing this fall in the Xfinity Series. He is set to drive for his team, JR Motorsports, at Richmond.

Last April, 15-time Most Popular Driver Award winner Dale Earnhardt Jr., 43, announced that he would be retiring from full-time competition in the NASCAR Cup Series following the conclusion of the 2017 season. He did just that following the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida.

However, what Earnhardt Jr. did not say is that he would not longer race in NASCAR ever again following the conclusion of his 18th full-time season in the sport. In fact, he is set to return to the sport this fall in the Xfinity Series.

Earnhardt Jr. is set to return to NASCAR to race in the Xfinity Series this fall in the race at Richmond Raceway on Friday, September 21st, and he is set to do so for the Xfinity Series team that he co-owns, which is JR Motorsports.

Here is what Earnhardt Jr. had to say about returning to NASCAR on Twitter.

Earnhardt Jr. has driven in 139 career races in the Xfinity Series, with 63 of those 139 starts coming in the 1998 and 1999 seasons, his two full-time seasons in the sport during which he won both championships.

Earnhardt Jr. has won 24 career races in his time in the Xfinity Series. He most recently drove in the Xfinity Series last season in races at Bristol and Richmond. He most recently won a race in the Xfinity Series in the 2016 season in a race at Richmond.
