Reverend Franklin Graham complimented rookie NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron, and Byron took to social media to respond.

Reverend Franklin Graham, the son of Reverend Billy Graham, praised NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron for his accomplishments as a race car driver while attending Liberty University, a Christian university where all four of his children attended.

Most of all, Graham praised Byron for his Christian faith, which Byron commented on when asked whether or not his faith is a factor in what he does behind the wheel of a race car.

Byron, 20, is a rookie driver in the Cup Series who drives the #24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. He made his debut in the series on Sunday in the Daytona 500 and finished in 23rd place after starting back in 33rd.

More from NASCAR

Byron made the transition to the Cup Series this offseason after winning last year’s Xfinity Series championship in his lone season in the series as the driver of the #9 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, which is co-owned by Hendrick Motorsports team owner Rick Hendrick. He won four races throughout the season.

Prior to the 2017 season, Byron drove in the Truck Series in the 2016 season for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He won seven races but only finished in 5th place in the championship standings after missing out on an opportunity to drive in the Championship 4. He also drove in the K&N Pro Series East in the 2015 for HScott Motorsports and won the championship after winning four races.

Here is what Graham had to say about Byron on his Facebook page. He posted a similar message on his Twitter account as well.
