Danica Patrick is set to drive in this year’s Indianapolis 500, her final IndyCar race, in the #13 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet.

Danica Patrick, 35, is set to drive in her first IndyCar race since the 2011 season in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana at the end of May. It was recently announced that she will be driving for Ed Carpenter Racing in this race, which is set to be her final IndyCar race.

Patrick announced last November prior to the 2017 Cup Series finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida that she would be retiring from her role as a full-time driver after the 2017 season, her fifth season as a full-time Cup Series driver, came to a close.

However, Patrick also made clear that she intended to drive in both the Daytona 500 this past February and the Indianapolis 500 on Memorial Day Sunday to officially close out her racing career, and those two races became known as the “Danica Double”.

Patrick has now revealed that she will be driving the #13 Chevrolet for Ed Carpenter Racing in the second race of the “Danica Double” to close out not only her IndyCar career, which included seven full-time seasons from 2005 to 2011, but her professional racing career as well.

She ended up crashing in the first race of the “Danica Double”, the Daytona 500, after 101 of the race’s 207 laps around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway tri-oval in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was officially scored in 35th place after starting the race in 28th in her #7 Chevrolet for Premium Motorsports.

Here is what Patrick had to say about selecting the number 13 for her Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet for the Indianapolis 500, according to IndyCar.

"“Back in the day, the color green was also said to be bad luck in racing. I think it’s cool. I’m a firm believer that superstitions are only real if you believe them.” “I love how everything is coming full-circle. I am going to close out my racing career at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the place where so many amazing things have happened for me. I’m back in GoDaddy green and joining a great team. Ed Carpenter Racing is consistently competitive at Indy. I can’t think of a better way to finish out my racing career than at the Indianapolis 500 with this team and GoDaddy.”"
