Pirelli’s new hypersoft tire compound for Formula One is set to make an appearance during the weekend of the Canadian Grand Prix in June.
In November of 2017, it was announced that Pirelli would be adding two more tire compounds for Formula One teams to use in the 2018 season. One of those tire compounds would be the superhard tire compound, and the other would be the hypersoft tire compound.
Pirelli have now confirmed that the hypersoft tire compound will make an appearance in this year’s Canadian Grand Prix, making this race the first confirmed race for this particular new tire compound of the 2018 season.
Here is a tweet showing all seven types of Pirelli tire compounds, including the two new tire compounds at the top and bottom of the chart.

The softest of these seven tire compounds, the pink hypersoft tire compound, is the tire compound that is set to make an appearance in this year’s Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The race is the seventh of 21 races on the 2018 schedule, and it is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 10th at 2:10 pm ET.

This race may not, however, end up being the race during which this particular tire compound is used for the first time. While this race is the first race that Pirelli have confirmed that the new hypersoft tire compound will be used for, there remains a strong likelihood that it will make its debut before the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Monaco Grand Prix at Circuit de Monaco is scheduled to be the sixth race of the season on Sunday, May 27th at 9:10 am ET, and there is a strong likelihood that this race is the race during which the new hypersoft tire compound will debut in Formula One.
However, this has not yet been confirmed, and all we know for sure at this point is that Pirelli have, in fact, confirmed that the hypersoft tire compound will be available for teams two weeks later in the Canadian Grand Prix.

Will the new hypersoft tire compound end up being used prior to the 2018 Canadian Grand Prix in the Monaco Grand Prix, or will it make its debut in Canada in June? The 2018 Formula One season is set to get underway in just over two weeks with the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, March 25th. That race is scheduled to be broadcast live on ESPN2 starting at 1:10 am ET.
