NAPA Auto Parts is set to launch a special “Caution Channel” on their Twitter page for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race, the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway.

The 2018 STP 500, which is the sixth race of the 36-race NASCAR Cup Series season, is set to take place at Martinsville, Virginia this Sunday, March 25th, and there are sure to be a lot of caution flag periods throughout the race.

The race around the four-turn, 0.526-mile is scheduled to last for 500 laps, or 263 miles. Despite the fact that there are typically lots of cautions at the track, 10 of the last 11 races at the tracks have gone the scheduled distances and no longer.

However, the only race of those 11 races that went longer than the scheduled distance was last year’s October Martinsville race, which is the most recent Cup Series race at the track. Sunday’s race may very well go into overtime as well given how many caution flag periods typically take place in races at this particular track.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Since the introduction of stage racing at the beginning of the 2017 season, there have been two races at Martinsville. They have featured 14 caution flag periods and 11 caution flag periods, respectively, with two caution flag periods in each race coming as a result of the end of the first two stages.

Because of the fact that caution flag periods are deemed boring by many fans, hundreds of fans each week complain about them on Twitter, and roughly 70% of American adults use a second screen while watching television, NAPA Auto Parts is launching a special “Caution Channel” on their Twitter page for the STP 500.

During each caution flag period throughout the race, this channel will feature themed sketches, GIFs, JPGs and other content featuring Chase Elliott, who drives the #9 NAPA Auto Parts-sponsored Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports.

Here is a link of some sample videos that will play on the “Caution Channel” during the laps run under caution during the STP 500 on Sunday.
