There was very little action in the Monaco Grand Prix, but how did it affect the way by which the Formula 1 teams stack up against one another?

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo dominated the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix on the famed 19-turn, 2.074-mile (3.337-kilometer) street circuit in Monte Carlo, Monaco to earn his seventh career Formula 1 victory and first in the sport’s crown jewel event.

Ricciardo’s victory was also his second win of the 2018 Formula 1 season, as he also won the Chinese Grand Prix in April. His win tied him with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton and Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel for the most wins so far this season.

Also as a result of Ricciardo’s victory, Red Bull Racing are now tied for the lead in the sport in wins with Mercedes and Ferrari, as all three of those teams have won two of the six races that have been contested so far this season.

If not for a series of unfortunate events involving Ricciardo and/or his teammate Max Verstappen in several races up to this point in the season, Red Bull Racing could be farther up in the constructor standings than they already are. At the very least, they would be much closer to Ferrari in second place than they are.

The team have certainly shown that they have the speed to be regular contenders, and Ricciardo’s win from the pole position in the Monaco Grand Prix after he swept every single practice session and qualifying session and led every single lap of the race proved that.
