Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team principal Toto Wolff referred to the team’s result in the Canadian Grand Prix as a “s*** result”.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport left the Canadian Grand Prix, the seventh race of the 2018 Formula 1 season, disappointed after Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel dominated the race from the pole position by leading each of its 70 laps (officially 68 thanks to the checkered flag blunder).

But perhaps no one on the team left the seventh race of the 21-race 2018 season around the 14-turn, 2.710-mile (4.361-kilometer) Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada more dejected that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.

Four-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, who drives for Mercedes, qualified for the race in fourth place and finished in fifth for his worst result of the season after he was passed by Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo as a result of the fact that he recorded a better in-lap than Hamilton did and the fact that his pit stop was extremely fast.

This was the case despite the fact that Hamilton entered the race having won six of the 10 Canadian Grands Prix in which he had driven and the fact that he had never finished a Canadian Grand Prix in which he was not forced to retire in a non-podium position.

Hamilton’s teammate, Valtteri Bottas, qualified in second place for the race and finished in second after Vettel pulled away from him after the start, a start that featured Bottas racing side by side with Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen for second in a battle that lasted for only a couple of corners and would not continue throughout the rest of what many people believe was a boring race.

However, Mercedes have grown accustomed to winning in Formula 1, as they had won 63 of the 79 races of the V6 turbo hybrid era, which began in the 2014 season, before the 2018 season began, so even the fact that Bottas finished the Canadian Grand Prix in second place and the fact that both of the team’s drivers finished in the top five was nowhere near good enough for Wolff or anybody on the team.

Here is what Wolff had to say about the matter after the race reached its conclusion, according to F1i.com.

"“No, not at all…This is a s*** result for us. I have to put it like that. It is a strong track for us, but all weekend long we have made little mistakes, from the start. The only feeling I have is that we have to wake up. We fell behind in every respect. This is a track where we should have maximised points – it is not about damage limitation for us.”"

Given the fact that Mercedes have grown accustomed to winning a lot of races, do you agree with Toto Wolff that their result, which was still a double-top five finish, in the Canadian Grand Prix was a “s*** result”?
