Brandon Hightower finished 26th in the 2018 Overton’s 300. I watched the race from his pit stall. Read about his NASCAR race recap along with a Q&A.

The NASCAR race weekend at Chicagoland Speedway was incredibly hot. Most of the weekend saw temperatures at 90 degrees or higher. On Friday, June 30, the NASCAR Xfinity Series raced in the Overton’s 300. While Kyle Larson won, this slideshow highlights the race weekend of Brandon Hightower. My father and I attended the race thanks to Brandon Hightower, the driver of the #55 JP Motorsports Toyota.

JP Motorsports are in their inaugural season in the Xfinity Series. They field the #45 Toyota driven by Josh Bilicki and the #55 Toyota driven by Hightower. On Tuesday, May 22, Hightower joined the team for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Entering his debut with JP Motorsports, he had competed in 10 Xfinity Series races and four Truck Series races. He debuted in the Xfinity Series in September 2016 driving for MBM Motorsports. His career-high Xfinity Series finish is his 13th place finish at Daytona International Speedway in February 2017.

Entering the 2018 Overton’s 300, Hightower was 45th in points, which does not sound impressive. However, his first race was the Alsco 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway at the end of May, so he had only competed in four races this year.
