NASCAR Cup Series: Kurt Busch takes pole for 2018 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kurt Busch took the pole position for the 20th race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kurt Busch took his third pole position of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season for the 20th race of the 36-race season, the Foxwoods Resort Casino, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He also took the pole positions for the races at Texas Motor Speedway and Michigan International Speedway earlier this season.

Busch took the pole position for the 301-lap race around the four-turn, 1.058-mile (1.703-kilometer) New Hampshire Motor Speedway oval in Loudon, New Hampshire by recording a top lap speed of 133.591 miles per hour (28.5109 seconds) around the track in the third and final round of qualifying in his #41 Ford.

Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski, who qualified in fifth and sixth place in their #12 Ford and #2 Ford, respectively, were the only other Ford drivers who qualified in the top 11.

Set to start the race alongside Busch on the front row is Furniture Row Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., who qualified in second place in his #78 Toyota. The defending Cup Series champion is the highest qualifying Toyota driver for the race.

The five Toyota drivers who swept the top five positions in the second round of qualifying all qualified in the top nine. Those five drivers are the only five Toyota drivers who drive for the two Toyota teams with at least one full-time driver.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez qualified in third, fourth, seventh and ninth place in their #18 Toyota, #11 Toyota, #20 Toyota and #19 Toyota, respectively.

The highest qualifying Chevrolet driver for the race is Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman, who qualified in eighth place in his #88 Chevrolet. Bowman’s teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron, who qualified in 10th and 11th in their #9 Chevrolet and #24 Chevrolet, respectively, are the only other drivers who qualified in the top 15.

A total of 37 drivers are on the entry list for the race, and all 37 of them recorded at least one lap in qualifying.
