Stewart-Haas Racing team co-owner Gene Haas revealed that there is still a possibility that Kurt Busch re-signs with the team for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Earlier today, it was reported that 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kurt Busch is set to leave Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season and that his primary sponsor, Monster Energy, is set to do so as well.

It was also reported that the 40-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada native is set to stay in the Cup Series as the replacement for 42-year-old Jamie McMurray at Chip Ganassi Racing as the driver of the #1 Chevrolet starting in the 2019 season.

However, Busch claims that he has not yet signed anything in regard to next season, and McMurray stated that he does not discuss his contract.

Here is what Busch had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.

"“I’m talking to a bunch of teams out there. There’s nothing that’s been signed and whatever has been reported is all hearsay.”"

Here is what McMurray had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.

"“I don’t talk about contracts. I just don’t discuss any of that kind of stuff.”"

A Chip Ganassi Racing spokesman reportedly had no comment on the subject, but Stewart-Haas Racing team co-owner Gene Haas did.

Haas believes that there is still a chance that Busch may re-sign with the team for the 2019 season, which backs up Busch’s claim that he has not yet signed anything for next year, including anything to drive for Chip Ganassi Racing as McMurray’s replacement.

Here is what Haas had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.

"“There’s a possibility of that [Busch will stay]. I don’t really have any comment because I haven’t seen anything one way or the other.”"

Given the fact that not much information is being revealed at this point yet there have been reports discussing Busch leaving Stewart-Haas Racing and signing with Chip Ganassi Racing, it is possible that there might be people who are intentionally refraining from revealing information, and it is also possible that there might be people who truly do not know what is going on.

Of course, it is possible that there might even be people who know that the situation is not exactly what the public perceives it to be and that not much is actually going on.

We will just have to wait and see whether or not people fit into these categories, who these people are and whether Busch ends up re-signing with Stewart-Haas Racing, signing with Chip Ganassi Racing or doing something completely different for the 2019 season.
