Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel has set his sights on winning each of the final six races of the 2018 Formula 1 season.

Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel of Scuderia Ferrari currently trails fellow four-time champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport by 40 points (281 to 241) in the Formula 1 driver standings with six races remaining on the 21-race 2018 schedule.

Through the first 15 races of the season, Vettel has earned five victories while Hamilton has earned seven. Vettel won the first two races of the season, the Australian Grand Prix and the Bahrain Grand Prix, and he has won three races since. He won the Canadian Grand Prix, the British Grand Prix and the Belgian Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s victories came in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix, the French Grand Prix, the German Grand Prix, the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Italian Grand Prix and the Singapore Grand Prix. He has won four of the last five races and finished in second place in the other.

With a maximum of 150 points still on the table for all drivers since race wins are worth 25 points and six races remain on the schedule, Hamilton has certainly not mathematically secured the 2018 championship even if his battle with Vettel seems to be over.

With second place finishes being worth 18 points, Vettel would win the championship by at least two points over Hamilton by winning all six of the season’s remaining races, as he would outscore the 33-year-old Briton by at least seven points in each race.

That is the goal of the 31-year-old German. Here is what he had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.

"“I think it’s pretty straightforward, if we win every race from now we are safe. So that is what we need to aim for.”"

The six races remaining on the 2018 schedule are the Russian Grand Prix, the Japanese Grand Prix, the United States Grand Prix, the Mexican Grand Prix, the Brazilian Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Vettel has earned victories in four of these races throughout his career. His most recent victories in the Japanese Grand Prix, the United States Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix came in the 2013 season and his most recent victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix came last year. He has never won the Russian Grand Prix nor the Mexican Grand Prix.

Vettel is a four-time winner of the Japanese Grand Prix, a three-time winner of the Brazilian Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and a one-time winner of the United States Grand Prix.
