Lewis Hamilton enters this weekend having won each of the last four United States Grand Prix. Will the four-time Formula 1 champion make it five in a row this Sunday?

Since the United States Grand Prix was first held at Circuit of the Americas in the 2012 Formula 1 season, four-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport has only failed to be victorious in the race once.

In the 2013 United States Grand Prix, it was Red Bull Racing’s Sebastian Vettel taking the checkered flag in front of the rest of the field at the 20-turn, 3.427-mile (5.513-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas road course in Austin, Texas. He had already clinched his fourth overall and fourth consecutive Formula 1 championship by this race, which was the penultimate race of the season.

Hamilton, who was in his first season driving for Mercedes at the time after winning the 2012 United States Grand Prix in his sixth and final season driving for McLaren, finished that race in fourth place. He finished it a total of 27.358 seconds behind Vettel.

But ever since Vettel crossed the finish line for his eighth consecutive victory and his 12th overall victory in the 2013 season, nobody but Hamilton has won the United States Grand Prix.

In the 2014 United States Grand Prix, Hamilton started in second place and went on to lead 33 of the race’s 56 laps en route to the victory. After exchanging the lead with Mercedes teammate and race polesitter Nico Rosberg, who led the race’s other 23 laps, five times, he won the race by 4.314 seconds over Rosberg in second.

The 2015 United States Grand Prix was only different in that a driver other than Hamilton and Rosberg led the race. Hamilton once again started in second place alongside Rosberg. He led 28 of the race’s laps while Rosberg led 22. Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo led the other six laps of the race, and the three leaders exchanged the lead six times. Hamilton went on to win the race by 2.850 seconds over Rosberg in second. Ricciardo finished in 10th after starting in third.

In the 2016 United States Grand Prix, Hamilton and Rosberg finished in first and second place, respectively, once again, but Hamilton won it from the pole position. He led 53 of the race’s 56 laps while Rosberg, who started the race in second, did not lead at all.

Hamilton won the race by 4.520 seconds over Rosberg. The only other leader of the race was Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who led three laps en route to a fourth place finish after starting in sixth. The race featured just two lead changes.

The 2017 United States Grand Prix, like the 2016 United States Grand Prix, was dominated by Hamilton after he started from the pole position. He led 48 of the race’s 56 laps, although the race did feature three other leaders aside of Hamilton as well as five lead changes.

Vettel and teammate Kimi Raikkonen as well as Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen led five, one and two laps of the race, respectively, en route to finishes of second, third and fourth place. They started the race in second, fifth and 16th. Hamilton won it by 10.143 seconds ahead of Vettel.
