Only the Championship 4 remains on the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series schedule. How do the sport’s 14 full-time teams stack up against one another heading into it?

Kyle Busch delivered Joe Gibbs Racing their ninth victory of the 36-race 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season in the season’s penultimate race and the final race of the round of 8, the Can-Am 500, at ISM Raceway.

Busch’s victory in the 312-lap race around the four-turn, 1.022-mile (1.645-kilometer) ISM Raceway oval in Avondale, Arizona solidified Joe Gibbs Racing’s position as the team with the second highest win total this season.

Entering the race, two races remained on the 2018 schedule. Joe Gibbs Racing sat in second place on the wins list with eight victories, trailing only Stewart-Haas Racing, which had locked up the top spot on this list with their 12 victories through the season’s first 34 races.

Team Penske, meanwhile, had a chance to tie Joe Gibbs Racing’s win total in the season’s final two races, as they entered the Can-Am 500 with six victories, including five in the last 10 races. Busch’s victory, however, prevented this from taking place.

All four of the teams that sit in the top four on the wins list have one driver who is set to compete in the Championship 4. Busch is set to represent Joe Gibbs Racing while Kevin Harvick is set to represent Stewart-Haas Racing, Joey Logano is set to represent Team Penske and Martin Truex Jr. is set to represent Furniture Row Racing, which have won four races so far this season. Truex Jr. is the team’s lone driver.

How did the action from the Can-Am 500 affect the NASCAR Cup Series Team Power Rankings? Here are the formulated NASCAR Cup Series Team Power Rankings and the non-formulated NASCAR Cup Series Team Power Rankings following Joe Gibbs Racing’s ninth victory of the season.

Because of the fact that the Can-Am 500 was the third and final race of the round of 8, the point totals of the eight round of 8 drivers, including the four who are set to advance to the Championship 4 and the four who are not set to do so, had their point totals updated even after the point totals that they earned during this race were added to their respective previous point totals.

This means that several variables that are involved in the calculation of the formulated NASCAR Cup Series Team Power Rankings were also updated.
