IndyCar: Jack Harvey set to make major announcement later today
By Asher Fair
Jack Harvey is set to make a major announcement at 11:00 a.m. ET today. Will this announcement pertain to his plans for the 2019 IndyCar season?
Jack Harvey, who competed in select IndyCar races over the course of the 2017 and 2018 seasons, posted on Twitter yesterday evening that he has “big news” that is set to come later this morning at 11:00 a.m. ET.
In this tweet, the 25-year-old Briton tagged IndyCar, Michael Shank Racing, AutoNation and SiriusXM. He has driven for Michael Shank Racing/Meyer Shank Racing in each of his nine career starts in IndyCar, and he has been sponsored by AutoNation and/or SiriusXM in all nine of these starts.
As a result, unless Harvey is pulling a Scott Dixon-like prank on us, it is likely that this “big news” will have something to do with his plans for the 2019 IndyCar season.
Here is Harvey’s tweet.
It has been rumored that Meyer Shank Racing will be fielding the #60 Honda for Harvey in 10 races throughout the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season after fielding the #60 Honda for him in six of the races in the 17-race 2018 season. Whether or not this will end up being the case will likely be determined in a few hours.

Meyer Shank Racing formed a partnership with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports for the 2018 season, and as stated above, Harvey drove for the team in six races. They are set to continue their partnership with the newly branded Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports for the 2019 season as well.
In nine career IndyCar starts, Harvey’s career-high finish is his 12th place finish, which he recorded in the race on streets of Long Beach, California in the 2018 season. His average career starting position is 20.0 and his average career finishing position if 18.6. He has finished seven of the nine races that he has started, and he has finished five of them on the lead lap.
In how many races and in which races will Jack Harvey compete throughout the 2019 IndyCar season? Will he be a full-time driver for the first time in his career?
The 2019 season is scheduled to get underway on Sunday, March 10 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Florida, which is one of the six races in which Harvey compete during the 2018 season. For more details regarding the 2019 schedule, click here.
