IndyCar: Arrow to serve as title sponsor of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports

Arrow Electronics, Inc. is set to serve as the title sponsor for the newly branded Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports starting in the 2019 IndyCar season.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports have formed a deepened partnership with Arrow Electronics, Inc. ahead of the 2019 IndyCar season.

As a result, the Denver, Colorado-based technology company is set to be the title sponsor of the newly branded Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, and it is set to provide additional expertise and resources to the team.

This announcement was made at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, which serves as the home to National Basketball Association’s Denver Nuggets, the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche and the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth.

The #5 Honda, the #6 Honda and the #7 Honda were all on display at this announcement, and they all displayed the black and gold Arrow Electronics paint scheme that James Hinchcliffe has used since he joined the team with Arrow Electronics as his primary sponsor in the 2015 season.

Hinchcliffe is set to drive the #5 Honda for the fifth consecutive season in 2019 while rookie Marcus Ericsson is set to drive the #7 Honda. The #6 Honda is being kept ready and available by the team for Robert Wickens, who drove it in the 2018 season as a rookie before he was severely injured in the August race at Pocono Raceway. He is currently continuing his rehabilitation and recovery following this nasty accident.

Here is what Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team co-owner Sam Schmidt, whose relationship with Arrow Electronics began in 2013, had to say about the team’s deepened partnership with the company, according to IndyCar.

Mike Long and the entire team at Arrow first had vision to create a system that enabled me to get behind the wheel after 16 years of paralysis which, in and of itself, has changed my life and the lives of millions worldwide. Now, by becoming our team title partner, they have given us the resources to fulfill another lifelong dream to win the Indy 500 and a championship in the IndyCar Series.”"

"“We couldn’t ask for a better partner for our team than Arrow. They’ve been by our side the last four years through the highs and lows, always pushing us closer to our goal: becoming Champions. We’re very excited for this next chapter of Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.”"

Here is what Arrow Electronics chairman, president and CEO Mike Long had to say about the company’s deepened partnership with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, according to IndyCar.

"“Our relationship with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has become synonymous with innovation, courage and perseverance. We are very driven to bring our technical expertise and resources to SPM to help them win races and championships for many years to come.”"

Here is what Wickens had to say about the Arrow Electronics-sponsored #6 Honda being on display along with the #5 Honda and the #7 Honda for this major announcement, according to IndyCar.

"“It means the world to me, the support I’ve been getting (from the team)…it’s just phenomenal. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to race for them last year. And even more grateful I’ll have the opportunity sometime in the future.”"
