Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s dominance in the NASCAR “GOAT” poll championship has continued, and that likely will not change before the poll closes.

After seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Richard Petty got off to a hot start in the NASCAR “GOAT” poll tiebreaker, fellow seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt Sr. caught up to him, got ahead of him, and pulled away from the sport’s all-time winningest driver.

That has not changed.

In all likelihood, it will not change, either. Earnhardt’s lead appears to be too great for Petty to overcome, just as it has for the last few days, especially given the fact that this poll is scheduled to close on Monday, February 11 at 6:00 a.m. ET. It has been active since Monday, February 4 at 6:00 a.m. ET.

"NASCAR: Greatest Driver of All-Time"CHAMPIONSHIP TIEBREAKER POLL

Posted by Beyond the Flag on Monday, February 4, 2019

More from NASCAR Cup Series

This tiebreaker was set up as a result of the fact that Petty, who entered the 16-driver bracket that has been narrowed down to just him and Earnhardt as the #1 seed, and Earnhardt, who entered it as the #3 seed, tied in the original championship poll.

A total of 896 people voted in this poll, with 448 people casting their votes for “The King” and the other 448 people casting their votes for “The Intimidator”.

As expected given the fact that the original championship poll resulted in a tie as well as the fact that the tiebreaker poll was scheduled to last for one week as opposed to only one day like the original one was, the turnout for the tiebreaker poll has been far greater than that of the original poll.

This high voter turnout has favored Earnhardt over Petty by far. Here are the current vote counts and percentages for both drivers with under one and a half days before the this tiebreaker poll is scheduled to close.

NOTE: These vote counts and percentages are accurate as of 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 9. Poll updates may not all be based on vote counts at this exact time of day.

Votes since last update (8:15 p.m. ET on Friday, February 8): 138

Richard Petty: 25 votes (18.1%)
Dale Earnhardt: 113 votes (81.9%)

Total votes: 5,625

Richard Petty: 1,125 votes (20.0%)
Dale Earnhardt: 4,500 votes (80.0%)

I will leave you with two (unofficial) words about this poll.

It’s over.
