Following the qualifying session for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the Daytona 500, the starting lineup for Gander RV Duel 2 is set.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman is the second of two drivers who locked themselves into their starting positions for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the 61st annual Daytona 500, in the qualifying session for the race at Daytona International Speedway.

Bowman qualified in second place for this race and is set to start it on the outside of the front row alongside teammate William Byron. As a result, the 25-year-old Tucson, Arizona native is set to start from the pole position for Gander RV Duel 2 on Thursday, February 14 in his #88 Chevrolet.

However, Bowman will not have anything to gain in this race aside of experience because of the fact that he is set to start in second place in next Sunday’s Daytona 500 regardless of what happens in it.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott is set to start Gander RV Duel 2 alongside Bowman on the front row, as he finished in fourth place in the Daytona 500 qualifying session in his #9 Chevrolet.

Elliott was the second fastest driver who is not locked into a front row starting position. The fastest of these drivers is teammate Jimmie Johnson, who is set to start Gander RV Duel 1 on the outside of the front row alongside Byron.

Team Penske’s Joey Logano, Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer and Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon are set to round out the top five in the starting lineup for Gander RV Duel 2 in third, fourth and fifth place in their #22 Ford, #14 Ford and #3 Chevrolet, respectively.

Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones, Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick, Roush Fenway Racing’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez are set to round out the top 10 in the starting lineup for this race in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #11 Toyota, #20 Toyota, #31 Chevrolet, #17 Ford and #41 Ford, respectively.

The finishing order of this race, not including where Bowman finishes, is set to determine the even starting positions for the Daytona 500.
