The starting lineup for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the Daytona 500, is set. Who will start in what position this Sunday?

Following the Gander RV Duels, the starting lineup for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season opener is set. This race, the 61st annual Daytona 500, is scheduled to take place this Sunday, February 17 at Daytona International Speedway.

Hendrick Motorsports teammates William Byron and Alex Bowman locked up the front row starting positions for this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked Daytona International Speedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida in this past Sunday’s single-car qualifying session.

Byron is set to start the race from the pole position in his #24 Chevrolet while Bowman is set to start it in second place in his #88 Chevrolet.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

The remainder of the starting lineup for this race was determined by the results of the two Gander RV Duels on Thursday evening.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick won the first of these two 60-lap races in his #4 Ford to secure the third place starting position while Team Penske’s Joey Logano won the second of these two races in his #22 Ford to secure the fourth place starting position.

Four drivers entered these two races having not secured positions in this year’s Daytona 500. Two of these drivers competed in each Gander RV Duel, with Tommy Baldwin Racing’s Ryan Truex and Gaunt Brothers Racing’s Parker Kligerman competing in Gander RV Duel 1 and Beard Motorsports’ Brendan Gaughan and MBM Motorsports’ Joey Gase competing in Gander RV Duel 2.

Kligerman and Gaughan ended up being the two of these four drivers who qualified for the Daytona 500. Kligerman finished Gander RV Duel 1 in 12th place while Gase finished Gander RV Duel 2 in 15th.

Two other drivers entered this past Sunday’s single-car qualifying session having not secured positions in this year’s Daytona 500 but were able to do so in this session. Both of these two drivers, Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick and Germain Racing’s Casey Mears, ended up qualifying for the race based on their qualifying times, as they failed to race their way into it in their respective Gander RV Duels.

Reddick finished Gander RV Duel 1 in 13th place behind Kligerman in his #31 Chevrolet and is set to start the Daytona 500 in 39th place. Mears finished Gander RV Duel 2 in 17th place behind Gaughan in his #27 Chevrolet and is set to start the Daytona 500 in 40th place.

Truex failed to qualify for the Daytona 500 by finishing in 14th place in Gander RV Duel 1 in his #71 Chevrolet while Gase failed to qualify for the race by finishing in 20th in Gander RV Duel 2 in his #66 Chevrolet.
